Cycling Diary
I've been
keeping a diary of my most notable rides in the area.

2004
| |
The Marmotte for
the fifth time with sunny condition and a time within a minute of my 2003
time. |
| |
The Col du Lautaret
and an unexpected ride on a closed Col du Galibier to 2450 metres |
| |
Three news Cols
south of Grenoble, the Menee, Grimone and Croix Haute. |
| |
The first Col of
the year on the edge of the Vercors. |
2003
| |
The 2003 Marmotte
with over 6,000 starters in perfect conditions. |
2002
| |
Six smaller climbs
south of Grenoble with tired legs at the end. |
| |
The Giant of Provence,
the Mont Ventoux. |
| |
Two rides around
Briançon, the first riding to the Col d'Izoard and the second climbing
the tough Col de Granon. |
| |
The Marmotte for
the third time, in conditions comparable to 2001. A pleasing result but
I've had better days on a bike. |
| |
The Col de la Morte
under the Tallifer, riding the Col du Charmette in the Chartreuse with
its bad road surface and tunnels and then the Col du Mont Noir in the
Vercors, preparing for the Marmotte by riding the course early in the
morning without the Alpe d'Huez |
| |
A day around
Bourg St Maurice, climbing two of this years Tour de France climbs,
the Cormet de Roseland and to the ski resort of La Plagne. |
| |
A day in Savoie
cycling the Col de l'Arpettaz and finding the snow on the Col du Joly. |
| |
Cycling up the
Grand Goulets in the Vercors, riding to Les Pleyney and the Collet d'Alleward
in the northern Belledonne. |
| |
Riding the Col
du Lautaret and Les Deux Alpes before a spectacular mountain road above
Bourg d'Oisans, climbing to the Chalet du Gioberney in the heart of
the Ecrins |
2001
| |
The 182km Challenge
du Dauphine sportif and riding to 2,500 metres on the Col du Galibier
to find the Col is still closed. |
| |
The Vaujany sportif
and the Marmotte for the second time. |
| |
The Megeve Mt
Blanc event in perfect condtions and the Grenobloise event for the first
time. |
2000
| |
Col du Romeyere
and the Gorges de la Bourne, Mont St Martin - the mini Alpe d'Huez and
the Balcon de Belledonne. |
| |
The Col du Coq,
Col de la Charmette, the Alpe d'Huez and the Challenge du Dauphine. |
| |
The Giant of Provence
- Mont Ventoux, and the Col du Rousset. |
| |

- 174km and 5000m of climbing, the Col Luitel and a weekend around Barcelonette
including riding the Col de la Bonette and the Col d'Allos. |
| |
Three cols in
the Chartreuse, cycling to Chamrousse and the Megeve Mt Blanc sportif. |
| |
Cycling along
the eastern edge of the Vercors. |
| |
On the edge of
the Chartreuse - the Col de Marcieu, and the Col d'Ornon and the 21
hairpins of the Alpe d'Huez. |
